BOOKSIGNING OF THE "ORPHAN TRAIN TO DESTINY" TAKES PLACE AT THE WALDEN LIBRARY

AUTHOR TOM RILEY APPEARED AT THE WALDEN LIBRARY ON JUNE 18TH AT 6:30PM TO CONDUCT HIS LECTURE/VIDEO ON THE ORPHAN TRAIN ERA (!853-1929).  HIS BOOK "THE ORPHAN TRAIN TO DESTINY" DIFFERS FROM HIS FIRST TWO NON-FICTION BOOKS.   HIS  3RD BOOK IN A SERIES IS ABOUT 2 BOYS SENT ON THE SAME TRAIN TO INDIANA.  ONE WAS TAKEN IN BY A FARMER, RAN AWAY AFTER 3 YEARS AND BECAME A DRUMMER BOY IN THE CIVIL WAR AT THE AGE OF 12.  THE OTHER BOY WAS TAKEN IN BY A JUDGE WHO WANTED TO SEE WHAT HE COULD DO TO TRANSFORM A STREET SMART NEW YORK CITY KID.  THAT BOY BECAME A 3 TERM GOVERNOR OF ALASKA.  THE DRUMMER BOY BECAME THE GOVERNOR OF NORTH DAKOTA.  TOM WOULD LIKE TO THANK LIBRARIANS  GINNY AND LISA AND THE PEOPLE OF WALDEN FOR DONATING TO HIS DIGITAL RESEARCH KIOSK AND THE COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS.
